In 2018, I read the Psalms.
In 2019, I read the whole Bible.
In 2020, I read the whole Bible, again.
In 2021, I read Luke & Acts.
In 2022, I am reading (and attempting to memorize) Philippians.
2022 is the year to slow down.
2022 is the year to marinate in the rich, deep lessons the Lord has forged in my heart and mind. 2022 is the year to memorize, recite, and rehearse long truths, slow truths.
2022 is the year for truths to make it from the space between my ears down into my heart and out my hands.
2022 is the year to meditate--to ponder slowly and deeply the rich things of God.
2022 is the year to listen--to be still and know that He is God.
2022 is the year of repetition--line by line, again and again.
These are some passages that have been meaningful to me so far this year:
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. for I give water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, to give drink to my chosen people, the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.
-Isaiah 43:19-21
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
-Philippians 1:6
I'm not sure where you find yourself today, but this is my prayer for you today...
Father, in whatever impossible place my friend finds themselves in, will you do a new thing? If they find themself in a desert, will you make a way for them through it? Will you provide nourishment in the midst of the parched places? Will you show them Your faithfulness to finish the work that You start? Will you pour out Your great love toward them and assure them that though this path is heavy, they will not be consumed. Your compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness. When our faithfulness wanes, Yours never does... may we be a people declaring Your praise. Amen!
If these truths are meaningful to you too, and you would like daily reminders of them, I made phone lockscreens to help myself rehearse them throughout the day. You can find them here in the shop!
