A Release Day Reflection for "On the Move" and "Where the Yellow Leads"
Today I’ve released two songs (which you can stream using any of the links here). They feel connected—both musically and personally, like two chapters of the very same season.
The past few years, I haven’t always known where I was going, but I kept moving. Kept working. Kept showing up. Internally, though, there’s been a quieter journey unfolding—one marked more by listening than by certainty. These songs were born there.

1) On the Move
This one came out of winter.
You know that kind of season—when the light feels thin and you forget what green looks like. When everything slows. When you’re waiting for something to shift but you can’t force it.
It’s about learning to trust that movement is happening even when you can’t see it.
It’s about God meeting you in the shadows instead of trying to escape them.
It’s about believing spring is on its way before there are any visible signs of thaw.
The chorus is simple:
“Meet me where the shadows stay,
Whisper spring is on its way.”
Sometimes faith isn’t loud. Sometimes it’s just a whisper that refuses to die.
And sometimes the most honest prayer is: “I know You’re on the move, even when I can't see it.”
2) Where the Yellow Leads
If On The Move is winter waiting, this one is the first hint of color.
It’s about following the quiet pull in your chest when there’s no master map and no sure decree.
It’s about trusting direction without having all the details.
It’s about choosing movement over paralysis—not because everything makes sense, but because something inside you says: go.
“No master map, no sure decree
Just the hum of the wind and the pull in me…”
The “yellow” in the song isn’t a destination.
It’s a leading.
A warmth.
A resonance you learn to follow.
And sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is go where that yellow leads.
Why These Songs Matter to Me
These are probably the most honest songs I’ve released, not because they have all the answers—but because they don’t.
They hold tension.
They hold longing.
They hold hope that doesn’t rush the process.
If I’m honest, I hope they connect. I hope they encourage. I hope they serve someone walking through their own winter or standing at their own unmarked crossroads.
But more than that, they feel true. (Can I say that?)
They feel like me.
And that’s what makes it such a vulnerable thing to release into the world.
So—
if you’ve been in a season of waiting…
if you’ve felt the ache of not knowing what’s next…
if you’ve been listening for the faintest whisper of spring…
if you’ve sensed that quiet pull with no clear map…
These songs are for you, too.
Because maybe we’re all still learning, in our own way, that even when nothing feels right:
God is on the move.
And sometimes,
the bravest thing you can do
is go where the yellow leads.
On the Move
Verse 1
The light gets thin around this time
And I forget what green looks like
The world slows down, my heart does too
Just waiting here for something new
Chorus
Meet me where the shadows stay
Whisper spring is on its way
Verse 2
Some days it’s hard to find my song
The notes are tired, the lines are long
But You don’t mind a trembling tune
So hum along till I find You
Chorus
Meet me where the shadows stay
Whisper spring is on its way
Bridge
Cause You are on the move
I know You’re on the move
My King is on the move
Verse (ending)
The thaw begins, the rivers sing
The earth remembers everything
* * *
Where The Yellow Leads
Verse 1
Buzzin’ bumblebees like an old tambourine
Cicadas singin’ out hallelujahs over me
The sun hangs low like it’s tired of the fight
The wind’s got secrets it’s done tryna hide
But I… go where the yellow leads
Verse 2
I met a wand’ring man readin’ signs in the stars
Said, “a faith ain’t faith ‘til it breaks your aching heart”
‘Cause time won’t bless what the soul won’t plead
So I hold my breath and I throw my seed
As I… go where the yellow leads
I go where the yellow leads
It’s got this grip on me
I go where the yellow leads
Verse 3
The gravel on the road knows jack, but I don’t mind
It just keeps rollin’ on and on and on beneath the moon-kissed sky
No master map, no sure decree
Just the hum of the wind and the pull in me
‘Cause I… go where the yellow leads

I noticed the similarity between the lyrics of "On The Move" and the book "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." The lion on the cover makes sense--Aslan, maybe? I absolutely love "On The Move!!!!!"
